For the afternoon review EthiopiaStudio was joined by a larger and more diverse audience. We were fortunate enough to be joined by Keri Deguzman, Karen Barr, Louise Roman, John Takamura, Duke Reiter, Darren Petrucci, Martin Despang, Milagros Zingoni, Mike Stemm, Joe Ewan, Jack Debartolo 2 and Michael Murphy. Quite an impressive crowd. The dialogue that followed the presentation was different than the previous yet equally valuable. Ideas of culture, parenting, society, expression and the environment were all discussed. EthiopiaStudio is fully grateful for the views and opinions that our audience presented, they are welcomed part of the process and will help in strengthening the final project.
EthiopiaStudio would like to personally thank Will Bruder, Wendell Burnette, John Kane, Mark Ryan, Catherine Spellman and Michael Murphy for making it to our morning presentation/review. We could not have ask for a more professional and experienced group of reviewers. The discussion was quite enlightening and most helpful for everyone in the studio; there was not a topic left unturned. From large-scale concepts to small-scale details we were given the chance to critically reflect and express decisions that we have made along the way.
the push. everyone came together and created a production machine comprised of eleven people. the slide presentation, the rendered drawings, collaged perspectives and physical models; every team member gave a hand and we were relieved when we were able to pinup, stand back and enjoy the scenery of beautiful work.
For our dd review we were joined by some distinguished professionals in architecture and landscape architecture. Wendell Burnette, Steve Martino and Peter Rich from South Africa gave us their time to listen and react to our project thus far. We were especially grateful of Mr. Rich for lending us some deep knowledge on the history and culture of the place. His experience and wisdom of working in similar conditions was beneficial beyond explanation. Mr. Burnette and Mr. Martino offered a different, yet vital, perspective. They were able to respond to our presentation and design from a unbiased, fresh viewpoint. Overall, the review was one of the most valuable days we have had so far. A big thank you to all of our reviewers for contributing to our development process.
we were asked to give a presentation of our trip and most recent process to the AIA Phoenix chapter meeting for October. we gladly obliged and the night went off without a hitch. it was quite exciting to gather all of the new work we have been doing into a single, comprehensive slideshow. we received loads of positive feedback but we also were grateful for some critical inquiries. thank you to all who attended. also, a special thanks to keri deguzman for giving a touching and honest introduction for the circumstances that surround this project.
