An Afternoon with the DeGuzmans

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

In studio yesterday we were fortunate enough to have Dr. Brian DeGuzman and his wife Keri stop by and share their inspirational story with us.  They are good friends of Jacks and will be closely involved with our project.  The DeGuzmans have worked with the orphanage in Ethiopia that we will be designing a new campus for.  And they just recently adopted two more children from there!

We were lucky enough to meet their beautiful children, Solomon and Tesfanesh, and it didn’t take long until they had won the hearts of everyone in the room.  They are wonderful, energetic little children that were saved from almost-certain death and now have a loving family and a promising life ahead of them.

Brian and Keri gave us a first-hand account of their journey – they told stories of the people they had met and showed pictures of the orphanage and the children.  They even had photos of our new site.  The DeGuzmans offered essential advice for our trip and were happy to answer any and all of our questions.  We were so grateful for their time and meeting them helped to put our project into perspective.  Our task ahead is a great one;  we have the opportunity to bring change and affect lives.  We can help to create hope to those who have little.
